editing/Timeline editor
Timeline editor
A full track-based editor over the rendered video: clips, narration, music and effects, with a preview that plays the real footage.
VIDEO WALKTHROUGH · 6 min
The timeline editor, end to end
Trimming and splitting clips, dragging in media, inspecting a clip’s properties, and scrubbing the preview.
Recording in production — the written steps below cover the same ground.
The layout
- Media dock (left)
- Everything you can add: video, pictures, avatar/narrator, audio, SFX & music, transitions and motion-graphic templates.
- Preview (centre)
- Plays the selected scene’s actual rendered clip, with playback speed from 0.5× to 2× and standard transport controls.
- Inspector (right)
- Properties of whatever is selected — timing, source, and renderer-specific settings.
- Tracks (bottom)
- The video, narration, music and SFX lanes, with the playhead.
Editing clips
Trim by dragging a clip edge, split at the playhead with the scissors, and reorder by dragging. Undo and redo cover the whole session. Both side panels collapse when you want the timeline full width.
Adding media
The dock searches stock video, photos, sound effects and music, and also lists your own library and uploads. Drag an item onto a lane, or use its + button. Motion-graphic templates are added as a new scene. Generating something new in a studio drops it into the same dock when it finishes.
The first play may build a lightweight preview proxy so scrubbing stays smooth. That happens once per video.
